Anastasia Demidova

Anastasia was born in Siberia, Russia in the city of Tomsk and moved with her family to Saint Petersburg aged 6. At the age of 7, she started doing ballet at her local Sunday school. When she was 10 years old she entered the prestigious Vaganova Ballet Academy in Saint Petersburg to begin her vocational training. Anastasia graduated with honours in 2018 from the class of Yulia Kosenkova and immediately joined the Mariinsky Ballet company as a member of the corps de ballet dancing in the majority of the Mariinsky Theatre’s ballet repertoire in many classical and character roles. Her favourite role to date is performing as one of the fairies in Balanchine’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and the lead Mazurka in “Swan Lake”.

Anastasia has toured with the Mariinsky Ballet to places including Taiwan, Japan, California, Washington DC, Baden-Baden & Beijing.

Anastasiia’s featured roles include the middle girl in the Siesta Trio in “Suite en Blanc”, 4 Fairies in Balanchine’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, Solo character couple in “Romeo & Juliet”, Grand Pas in “Paquita”, 4 Lead Waltz couples in “The Nutcracker”, 4 Lead Waltz girls in “Swan Lake”, Lead Mazurka Couple in “Swan Lake”, 4 couples in Twyla Tharp’s “Push Comes to Shove”, Grand Pas in “Don Quixote”, and the first line of the Shades in “La Bayadere”.

During the pandemic, Anastasia taught many online ballet and floor barre classes for ballet schools in the UK and has classes featured on balletclass.com. In August 2022, Anastasia joined the Norwegian National Ballet in Oslo.
